A plain-language look at the rebate programs currently available for home insulation upgrades in Ontario. We help you figure out exactly what applies to your project.
Home Renovation Savings Program. Combine two or more eligible upgrades — attic, wall, basement, crawlspace insulation, or air sealing — for a rebate up to $5,000 on a natural-gas-heated home, or up to $10,000 on an electrically heated home. Book a home energy assessment, get a report of recommended upgrades, then hire the contractor of your choice — including us — to complete the work.
Individual rebate amounts vary by upgrade type and how much you improve your R-value — see the full breakdown below.
The assessment has to happen before any work starts — upgrades completed first aren't eligible for a rebate.
Before any work begins, book a home energy assessment through an approved energy advisor. You'll get a report showing which upgrades qualify.
Once you have your report, hire the contractor of your choice — including us — to complete two or more eligible upgrades.
After the work is done, the same energy advisor completes a follow-up assessment to confirm the improvement.
Once the advisor submits the paperwork, your rebate is paid directly to you — by cheque or e-transfer, typically within 30–60 days.
Rebate amounts depend on your starting R-value and how much you improve it. This is the current breakdown for the multi-upgrade Home Renovation Savings Program (requires a home energy assessment, arranged by you through the program).
